All roads lead to Glòries!
The Shopping Mall Glories was created as a result of the urban reform of Barcelona in 92. Inaugurated in 1995, it surprises everyone with its peculiar semi-open design. With almost two hundred shops spread over three levels, it is one of the most complete large commercial areas for shopping in Barcelona with almost 30,000 square meters.
In 1995, when the Shopping Mall Glòries was inaugurated, it was one of the first major urban projects in the Catalan capital. 20 years later, the space once again draws attention to a new project, this time with an architectural refurbish that will turn it into an open commercial neighbourhood, fully integrated into the urban. The project was awarded as the best renovation project of 2017.
Between 2013 and 2017, the space was remodelled by L35 Architects, Mariscal Studio and the lighting Designer Birgit Walter from BMLD. Our participation in this project arises thanks to the collaboration with BMLD lighting design studio, located in Barcelona.
To light up the passage that connects the Glòries Shopping Mall to Barcelona's Diagonal Avenue, SAKMA backlight the custom glass plates with RGB technology, and also installed the linear lighting LSK E luminaires on the walls and ceilings, for continuous and homogeneous light lines.
All the luminaires are connected to a motion sensor, which generates changing light effects when the visitors access and according to the time of day.
A lighting concept that reinforces the visual identity of the mall, while providing interactive components.
